Passion, Service, and the Joy of Coaching

Today I want to talk about coaching, and about something that came to me earlier in an email from what it called  “a message from the universe”. The word that kept coming up was passion. The idea was simple but powerful: what you do with passion becomes an act of service, and service gives meaning to the work.

That really resonated with me.

I truly love what I do. I love being in service to my clients, to the people I work with, and to the coaching profession itself. It never feels like something I have to do. It feels like something I get to do. And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I just love being a coach.

People sometimes ask me when I’m going to retire, and my usual answer makes them laugh. I tell them I would have to start working first before I could retire. Because to me, this has never felt like work. It feels like passion. It feels like purpose. It feels like making a difference.

And that, to me, is what coaching is really about.

It’s about showing up for others.
It’s about being of service.
It’s about doing something you care about deeply enough that you would keep doing it even if nobody asked you to.

I have a feeling many coaches feel the same way. There’s something about this work that gets into who you are, not just what you do. If that’s true for you too, then you know exactly what I mean.

Until next time.
