Today I’m sitting with something heavier than usual: the passing of Henry Kimsey-House.
I never had the good fortune of meeting him in person. But my life has been altered, permanently, by the work he and his wife and everyone else at the Coaches Training Institute built back in the 90s.
I started coach training with CTI in January of 2001. I went through their full curriculum. I became a certified coach using their system. And in 2009, I did the CTI leadership program, where I met people who have also changed my life in ways I’m still tracing the edges of.
So, a big shout out to you, Henry. For everything you did. For the ripple you caused in the world, one that reached me and so many coaches I know, most of whom never met you either, and were shaped by you all the same. That’s its own kind of legacy. You don’t have to be in the room to change the room.
May you rest in peace.
